FAQs

what do you blog about and why?
i will first refer you to this post. But, I will also say I blog to remember. I want to remember my first year of marriage, the way God has been faithful, and leave a trail of evidence that a mighty God is faithful and powerful in a simple wife's life. I blog about what God is teaching me, things close to my heart (like my ever growing love of coffee), and occasionally some of my science kid research leaks in. I blog as a creative outlet, to share my life and faith, and to hopefully (somehow) bring glory to God.
if you could live anywhere else in the world, where would it be?

I am pretty content right here in good 'ol hot Tejas. Neither the husband or I like the cold weather. If it was up to him we would move to New Mexico/Arizona tomorrow.

why did you chose to name your blog "seek first"?

the blog is about the day to day things that happen in our life. but, above all else, the blog is about our lives reflecting the grace and glory of God. Seek first comes from Matthew 6:33 that says "But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." no matter the chaos, the troubles, the joys that come our way in this life here on earth, our purpose is to SEEK FIRST His kingdom.

What's the last thing you laughed really really hard at? my husband. he makes me laugh daily (and it's mostly at myself), and I am so thankful.

What's your favorite memory from childhood?
oh man, guys. I had a great childhood. like GREAT. I have a super fun younger brother that kept me always on my toes. I'll share more memories with you later, but for now, this: When my family was moving from the Dallas area to the Fort Worth area, we had a small period of time inbetween where we lived with my grandparents. I remember it as some of the best months of my life. We had Christmas at their house that year, and I told Forrest, my brother, that I was going to stay up late on Christmas Eve and at midnight we could go play with all of our toys under the tree. Sure enough I kept myself awake and at midnight I woke Forrest up and we played for an hour. I was super pumped to see I had a whole collection of Winnie the Pooh binders, pencils, and school supplies. Yes, I was that kid. We played for an hour before going back to sleep. I told our parents a few years back.

What is one thing you'd like to tell yourself five years ago?
slow down. enjoy. I am so goal focused that I don't enjoy life sometimes. I rushed through high school, flew through college, and am wishing I enjoyed those parts of life more. The Lord has been using my husband to teach me contentment, and I am so glad He has.

What is one thing you pray to see in yourself five years from now?
patience. i pray the Lord continues his work in me. I have so far to go and so much to learn.

What is your favorite memory of your marriage so far?
oh man, I am madly in love with my husband. like, widly, madly, crazy in love with him. he is loving and patient and gentle and he leads me so well; he is easy to follow and easy to serve. he is quick to forgive and quick to ask for forgiveness. he makes me laugh daily. there isn't a favorite memory...but just a complete and utter underservingness on my part of how he loves me daily. i am so so thankful, day after day, to be his. to get to share his name. to know that he has promised me his whole life here on earth. to know that when the Lord made Samuel in his mother's womb, he was making him for me. my husband loves me with a love that is powerful and transforming. he loves me as to push me more towards Christ. i am madly in love, deeply underserving, and utterly thankful.

What is a food or drink item you absolutely cannot live without?
coffee. i am my mothers daughter. i don't get the crazy eye shut thing she gets without it, but the headaches, oh yeah. just make sure i have the coffee.
