out there

these new blue pants are out there.
out of my comfort zone.
they draw attention.
comments, and questions.

but I'm learning that out of my comfort zone is the best way to live
completely relying on the only One who has power

"Some trust in chariots, and some in horses
but we trust in the Lord our God"  Ps. 20: 7

so for that, I won't fear,
but follow the hand that guides me,
step by step
until I look back and see,
we're at the place that seemed impossible.

do you do them yourself, or have help
and if you are like me, and using the self timer
how do you find the right spot, light, etc?

because my dirty mirror is not looking so hot.

seasonal

I'm a seasonal person.
I love pumpkin in the fall.
fresh flowers in the spring.
and in the winter, you'll almost always find me curled up with a book and a blanket.

here in Houston, spring is in the air
I spent Friday at lunch on the patio, and just relished the breeze.
the quiet rustling of the trees, the change in the air
it's refreshing and renewing

just as my heart begins to wander, to yearn for different,
the Lord brings it.
(Don't hear this as: He gives me what I want.)
But rather, hear this as He knows my heart and loves so personally
that He gives those changes in little things.

in flowers blooming,
in spring breezes,
in daylight in the evening

He's ever loving me,
wooing me more
back to Himself.

if there's anything I've learned, it's to enjoy the season.
each is over so fast.
I am not saying I don't wish for the days ahead
but I know that we are here, in Houston, where we are for this season.
and so I will cherish it.
because before too long, this season will go

absolutely nothing

nothing.
that's what we did all weekend.
not really. but we didn't have plans,
and we spent a lot of time just together.

my man indulged me and took me thrift shopping.
a cute Jcrew top for $15 from Buffalo exchange makes my heart happy.
and finally some colored pants that work on me. a piece of my list!

that handsome man is my husband.

how was your weekend?

if you asked me..

...I would tell you that I'm so frustrated and clueless with how to fix this blogger RSS thing. Are my posts showing up in  your reader? How are you getting here? And does ANYONE know how I might fix this?

...I would tell you that I am excited to have a weekend here in Houston just Sam and me.  It will include lots of watching Lost, (we just started...a bit late, but are COMPLETELY addicted), staying in pajamas,
and maybe a little thrift store and old navy shopping to pick up those key pieces!

...I would tell you that spring break flew by way too fast. Just going to work was such a nice relief.

...I would tell you I am currently obsessed with a few things
  1. the band Fun. bought the cd, it's on repeat. oh, and they will be in Houston next Tuesday.
  2. fruit and fruit dip. marshmallow fluff and cream cheese--mix in equal parts. you're welcome
...I would tell you I went running yesterday and this change of seasons does my heart so much good. Fresh air, wind in the face, and I feel like a new person. I'm ready to welcome spring.

key pieces I'm loving

remember how I cried on Sunday about that outfit? (like a long time ago)
and I was working on my wardrobe.
well, here's what I've got so far.

For inspiration, I have taken to reading a couple of blogs daily--
these bloggers are so sweet and have great tips for real girls like me to get dressed!

  • Audrey at Putting Me Together has a great blog and awesome outfit pictures. She even links some of her items to the places you can buy them!
  •   Merrick at Merrick's Art is about the cutest girl you will ever see. She has GREAT refashion tutorials to take some of your so-so items in your closet and make them your favorite pieces!
I talked about reading the "No Brainer Wardrboe" a while back, and now I'm halfway through
and I've made a list of some key pieces I want to add to my wardrobe
it'll be a slow process, and I'm hoping to find some at thrift stores,
but I'm on my way to having a much better (and easier) wardrboe!

and I've come away seeing a few key pieces that need to get added to my wardrobe.

1. A blazer. My husband has preached this idea to me for a while now, but I'm finally on board.

2. Blouses. I have virtually no blouses. All t's and button downs.

3. A yellow cardigan. I have a million (well, 7) cardigans and not one of them is yellow.

4. A blue or chambray button down. So versatile

5. Skinny or colored jeans--doubling all the ways I can wear my tops!

6.  Riding boots--I'm a short girl, and not sure how these are going to look good without making me too short, but I would love a good pair.

What's on your to-buy list? Do you have any of these pieces and love them? AND would love to tell me where you got them?

I'm linking up with the Vintage Apple for pinteresting Wednesdays, and you should too!
